Get Traffic from Social Sites Like Facebook and Twitter

The power of social networking websites like Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn is undeniable. Billions of people use social websites each day. In fact, the average Internet user spends about 2 hours of their time online each day using social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter. To not use Facebook and Twitter for affiliate marketing would be a big mistake for any turn key website business owner.

Not only are Facebook and Twitter free to use, they are filled with millions of people each day who are ready and willing to click your links and visit your website.

Fortunately, using Facebook and Twitter to promote your website is a lot easier than you might think.

Facebook Affiliate Marketing

With over 375 million active daily users, it can seem like everyone is using Facebook. As one of the world’s largest online social communities, Facebook attracts visitors from all over the world with interests that range from stay-at-home moms to celebrity gossip journalism.

According to Facebook’s own statistics, people spend over 700 billion minutes per month using the popular social website. Besides being a vital tool for affiliate marketing and promotion, social networks like Facebook are here to stay. And each day they draw more and more traffic and increase their user roll-calls.

There are several ways to use Facebook to market your online website business.

Facebook Fan Pages

Facebook Fan PagesFacebook Pages are separate pages hosted on Facebook that you can develop for personal or business use. Pages can be created for businesses, brands, celebrities, musicians, and of course, turnkey website businesses. Plus, search engines like Google take Facebook Pages very seriously.

By using the social power of Facebook, you can give your online business a healthy dose of traffic and a higher rank position in search engines like Google and Yahoo!.

Create a Fan Page

Facebook Pages are separate pages you can create for businesses, brands, celebrities, or anything you are looking to promote. Search engines take Facebook Pages very seriously, and having one is an easy way to reach your website’s influence into today’s most-used social website.

To create a Facebook Page, simply sign into your Facebook account. Fan or Business pages can only be created and owned by active members. If you don’t have an account, it’s free to sign up.

Once you have logged into your Facebook account, visit the Facebook Page Creation tool here.

It’s up to you to create a Fan Page or Business Page. I recommend to most affiliate marketers to build a Fan Page. Fan Pages are geared towards a variety of topics and interests, while Business Pages are generally meant for traditional brick-and-mortar businesses.

Once you have created your Fan Page, update your profile as much information as possible. The more information your profile contains, the more chances you have of selling your brand, attracting fans, and converting traffic into sales. Also, be sure to upload of a profile photo, whether it’s a logo or just a photo that represents your affiliate website.

You can use your Facebook Fan Page in several ways. I have included two link resources to help you learn more about how you can use Facebook marketing to make money online.

Use Your Fan Page to Engage Similar Brands

Once you have setup your Fan page, it’s time to update your Wall. I generally recommend having at least 10 to 15 wall updates before you begin promoting.

To find similar brands, use the Facebook search bar. Search for terms similar to your website’s topic. Identify 3 or 4 pages where you think you might fit in quite well. Join the group (by clicking their “Like” button) and introduce yourself on your wall.

In your group introduction, don’t push too hard, just say “hello” and give some information about what you do and why you joined the group. And don’t just stop at their wall! Get to know the page, take a look at their photos, information profile, and see what the group members’ interests are.

Once you have joined a few groups and made an introduction post, be sure to check back at that group regularly. It’s not polite to “swoop in and swoop out”, just to try to squeeze some Facebook traffic. I keep a calendar appointment for 30 minutes each week to check back at the Facebook pages I belong to.

Any Facebook Fan Page you like will appear on the bottom left side of your Facebook page screen. This is an easy way to just click, read through recent posts, and leave a few friendly, informative comments.

Create a Facebook Badge for Your Website

Take advantage of Facebook badges, the easiest way to promote your Facebook page on your website or blog!

You can easily add a Facebook “badge” to your website or blog. A Facebook badge is a small graphic that displays your Facebook profile information. You can customize the look and feel of your Facebook badge easily. Just visit Facebook Badges to build a Facebook badge for your page or profile. You can also select to feature other pages you like or even your Facebook photo stream.

If you prefer to have a separate “Like” button for your website, just visit the Facebook Like Button Generator.
